If a stronger contact is needed, using one of the other different cheek options can change the angle of the mouthpiece. As the pressure is increased on the reign the mouthpiece rotates to give a more keen action on the tongue. The bit then returns to its comfortable position the moment the pressure is released. The butterfly mouthpiece is available in soft and hard degrees of density.

Hard/firm - the material is firm whilst very pleasant in the mouth, for very strong or horses that lean. A less cumbersome alternative to Vulcanite.
